How To Get Your Rain Barrel Home

No need for a delivery service! Just follow these simple instructions to get your barrel home:

Transporting Rain Barrels – Rain barrels do not fit inside the trunk of most passenger vehicles however if you plan to transport your rain barrel this way; you must bring rope to secure it. One rain barrel will fit in the back seat and a second rain barrel may fit in the reclined front passenger seat, however this can obstruct vision and may be unsafe. Please take care to protect vehicle upholstery by covering it with plastic, cardboard, paper, blankets or towels to prevent exposure to any dirt or moisture that may have come in contact with your rain barrel.

Rain Barrel Assembly, Operating Instructions, Maintenance and Warranty are found at https://rainbarrel.ca/instructions/. Please be sure to disconnect your rain barrel before winter as expanding ice can cause damage and void the warranty.

PRESS RELEASE – Belleville's Barrels Best

 Press Release

 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

 Belleville’s Barrels Best

Belleville ON, May 29th, 2015
Truckload rain barrel fundraising events have become an annual spring tradition in communities across Ontario including Belleville. On the surface, an event scheduled for June 3rd seems no different than others except for the fact that the newly manufactured rain barrels are made right here in Belleville, by Greif Bros Canada Inc. Belleville’s barrels have competed for and won contracts in Hamilton, Brantford, Halton, Peel, Guelph, Waterloo, Sudbury and Richmond Hill because they have proven to offer the best quality and value. Like thousands in other communities, Belleville residents can now acquire the same high quality products while supporting a local non-profit organization.

Any local gardener can tell you about the benefits of rainwater when it comes to growing plants and vegetables. The absence of fluoride and chlorine which are often added to drinking water systems is ideal for plant growth. Use of free rainwater reduces demands on municipal water systems and can result in lower water bills. Rain barrels can also minimize damage caused by heavy rain events by redirecting water away from building foundations.

RainBarrel.ca is the exclusive distributor of Belleville rain barrels and has partnered with Quinte Christian High School and Nicholson Catholic College. The schools plan to use funds raised through the sale of rain barrels to support several fundraising initiatives. For additional information please visit www.RainBarrel.ca/Belleville.

Rain barrels are $55 each and residents are encouraged to order online in advance for guaranteed availability or to arrive at Greif Bros Canada Inc., 300 University Avenue, Belleville, ON between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 3rd on a first come, first served basis, while supplies last.

If you are committed to ensuring your lawn or garden is healthy and are committed to supporting these local schools and business, please consider purchasing a rain barrel.

Your Cottage Opening Safety Checklist

Many Canadians will be heading up to their cottages for opening weekend. Follow our simple safety checklist to keep safe and make the most of your time at the cottage:

1. Test your smoke and carbon dioxide detectors to ensure they don’t need new batteries.

2. Inspect the power lines leading into your cottage and report any damage to your utility company before activating your service.

3. Inspect indoor and outdoor wiring for any damage caused by animals. Have an electrician handle any repairs needed.

4. Clean up the exterior of your cottage. Remove debris, cut back trees and bushes. You can use the water from a rain barrel to wash down outdoor furniture, decks and pathways.

5. Purchase or replace your fire extinguisher (if expired) and make sure everyone knows where it is and how to use it.

6. Always have water one hand to be used for putting out fires. We recommend purchasing a rain barrel for this purpose.
