Thinking About Rain Barrels All Year Long

We are planning for 2013 and have many non-profit partners planning along with us! We’ve got 47 of them getting ready to fundraise for various needs at their schools, churches, eco-groups and elsewhere in their communities.

This year, we are focusing on strengthening our partners and helping them to fill their trucks to overflowing with pre-ordered rain barrels. We are revamping our resources to assist our non-profit partners every step of the way.

There’s still room for more partners: See our website at www.RainBarrel.ca/fundraise to join in on the fun(d)raising!

E-coli in Water; E-coli in Beef

CBC’s The Current focused on the E-coli-tainted beef recall and featured Bruce Davidson from Walkerton speaking about the same strain of e-coli that infected the town’s drinking water in 2000. Walkerton and Brockton have held rain barrel sales for several years as part of their water stewardship program of advocacy and education. In the broadcast, Bruce focused on looking for changes and results in any enquiries rather than finding blame in the beef recall. Bruce says “our community thrives today…because we tackled this problem head-on [and Walkerton has become] a bastion of knowledge about the safety of drinking water “, sharing this knowledge across Canada. We hope Canada learns from the current recall too. Listen to The Current episode HERE

What customers are saying about our rain barrels…

“Just after my black rain barrel was delivered, I stated that mine had a dent in it that I could not repair. I’m pleased to report that the dent has magically fixed itself (I’m not sure exactly how or when!). Anyway, here’s some pics of my installation. Previously, I had no gutter down-spouts on the west side of my house. This barrel has helped tremendously to even out rain diversion on my property. The barrel filled up quickly… I’ve hooked up my pressure washer to the garden hose spigot and used the rain barrel water to clean my lawn equipment… another plus!”

Have you purchased a rain barrel from one of our partners? What do you think of yours?
