World Water Day is held every year on March 22nd. It is a worldwide event intended to create awareness about the importance of freshwater and freshwater resources and sustainability.
Each year World Water Day focuses on a specific aspect of freshwater. This year the theme is “Water and Energy”.
2014 is focused on bringing attention to the water-energy nexus particularly addressing inequities, especially for the ‘bottom billion’ who live in slums and impoverished rural areas and survive without access to safe drinking water, adequate sanitation, sufficient food and energy services.
