Fundraising During A COVID-19 World Water Day
For Immediate Release
HAMILTON, ON, March 22, 2020 – On World Water Day 2020, a day set aside to acknowledge all things water related, RainBarrel.ca & RainBarrelFundraising.com usually make an announcement of over a hundred and fifty rain barrel fundraising events across North America. But the COVID-19 pandemic changes everything.
Some of our non-profit partners and municipal clients have decided to postpone their rain barrel fundraising events until the crisis has passed, while others plan to move forward, like our partners from Nova Scotia to Alberta and into USA who distribute rain barrels to help fund a variety of causes and in some areas, to assist residents in offsettting the effects of a climate change fueled drought.
Since the nonprofit sector is the one of the worst hit as the world turns its collective efforts to handle the current crisis, RainBarrel.ca and RainBarrelFundraising.com would like to reaffirm that we are continuing to support our non-profit partners (and their end clients – homeowners and gardeners) while modifying our operations to vouchsafe the health and safety of our staff, partners, clients, and customers.
Our small business is trying to remain true to our commitment to our non-profit partners and our mission to help them fundraise with rain barrels and to help homeowners conserve water, reduce water bills, grow bigger and healthier plants and vegetables with chlorine-free and fluoride-free rainwater and mitigate potential for flooding while addressing climate change.
And we will do so by adjusting to the demands of these new circumstances. We are practicing social distancing techniques to keep our processes as safe and healthy as possible including
1. Only one driver per truck and practicing social distancing during load/unload.
2. Practicing frequent and proper hand hygiene.
3. Utilizing a state-of-the-art online ordering system.
4. “Drop and go” home delivery with no personal contact with customers.
5. Staggered customer arrival times at pickup or distribution events.
6. Using the product set-up to distance customers from one another at pickup or distribution events
7. Working remotely (our support staff work from home).
The collective efforts of our non-profits will make a significant difference for their communities and for the clubs, schools, churches, and services organizations that will be able to continue operations long after the COVID-19 crisis has passed. The rain barrels installed will continue to have environmental benefits for years to come.
