Recycled & New
Whether referred to as reused, reconditioned or recycled, our focus is on distributing rain barrels that previously contained fruit, vegetables and other food grade items. Our rain barrels are the most environmentally friendly available and although considered the “greenest” they are typically available in slate grey, terracotta or black. Standard features include a top filter basket, top-side overflow and barrel to barrel connector, overflow hose and a bottom-side spigot with garden hose thread.

Grey

Grey Rain Barrels are typically 220 litre and measure 22 x 38 inches tall, however we occasionally have them in smaller sizes. Each rain barrel includes a filter basket, overflow and interconnectivity outlet, overflow hose, nipple and spigot.

Overflow Hose

Terracotta Rain Barrels are typically available in 200 litre (22 x 36 inches) and 220 litre (22 x 40 inches) sizes however they are frequently available in 180 litre (22 x 33 inches), 190 litre (22 x 34 inches) and 230 litre (22 x 42 inches) capacities as well. There are a variety of styles available including smooth and ribbed sides, deep and shallow lids, threaded screw-on and unthreaded push-on lids. Unless otherwise requested, we will always ship the largest available size. Each rain barrel includes a filter basket, overflow and interconnectivity outlet, overflow hose, nipple and spigot.

Black

Black Rain Barrels are typically 220 litre (22 x 40 inches) however we occasionally have them in smaller and larger sizes. Each rain barrel includes a filter basket, overflow and interconnectivity outlet, overflow hose, nipple and spigot.

Tote Tank

Tanks

Tanks can range from 100 gallon up to 275 gallon and have a footprint of 40 x 48 inches and range from 45 to 54 inches tall. They typically have an 8 inch top fill cap and a 2 inch bottom ball valve. Rain tanks do not typically include a filter screen, overflow outlet or garden hose spigot however we would be happy to discuss any modifications required.
FEATURES
Filter Basket

Filter Basket

Filter Lid

Filter Basket
The RainBarrel.ca filter basket is comprised of a rigid, durable plastic ring and a flexible black mosquito netting basket. It will provide years of reliable service and will not rust or become brittle like other products that use metal screens or rigid plastic baskets. Our filter basket is removable to permit cleaning of leaves and other debris. It has been designed large enough to accept downspouts of all standard sizes and yet small enough to prevent children from accessing the interior of the rain barrel.
Overflow T-Adaptor

Overflow T-Adaptor

Overflow and Interconnectivity Outlet
For 2010 we have designed a single outlet that handles overflow and provides the option of connecting to additional rain barrels. The black T-shaped adaptor accepts 1.5 inch overflow hose on one end and is closed on the second end. The closed end can be easily cut open if a second rain barrel is to be connected.
Terracotta Rain Barrel Hose

Overflow Hose

Overflow Hose – Each rain barrel comes with 4 feet of 1.5 inch diameter corrugated overflow hose. Additional 1.5 inch diameter overflow hose can be purchased in either 12 or 24 foot lengths.
Spigot and Nipple

Spigot and Nipple

Terracotta Rain Barrel Spigot

Spigot

Spigot and Nipple
A tapered male to male nipple creates a tight seal against the bottom side of the rain barrel to prevent leaking. The spigot then threads onto the nipple. The spigot requires only a single quarter turn to open fully and therefore has time saving advantages over full tap connectors which require multiple turns to open. The spigot is also threaded and can accept a standard garden hose. We placed the spigot at the bottom side of the barrel so that all water can be drained from the rain barrel. There are several solutions for individuals preferring to use watering cans. One option is to place the rain barrel on blocks to provide enough bottom clearance for a watering can. A second option is to connect a short piece of garden hose to the spigot which can then be inserted into a watering can. A third option is to install a second spigot further up on the side of the rain barrel.
Upon request, we can supply new rain barrels in a variety of colours and sizes. RainBarrel.ca can also design a rain barrel to your specific requirements.
